Tue Aug 2nd 9am > Bike Trick Practice
Meet at Ditan Park West gate to practice tricks as well as track stands, backward circles and skidding. You can get ready for the Fixed Gear Revolution 3 main event on Aug. 20th.
Wed Aug 3rd 6pm > Bike Polo @ Ditan Park
Anyone with any kind of bike can join. Meet us at Natooke at 5:45pm or directly at Ditan Park West gate (just off Andingmen Waidajie) to start playing polo at 6pm. We will play for 2 hours and then go for food close by. Come out and try the fun!
Thur Aug 4th 7:30pm > Olympic Forest Ride
Meet 7:15pm at Natooke and at 7.30pm we head out to the Olympic forest to cycle some laps. This is the race course for the Fixed Gear Revolution 3 scratch race on Aug 18th.
Sat Aug 6th 9am > Bike Trick Practice
Meet at Ditan Park West gate to practice tricks as well as track stands, backward circles and skidding. You can get ready for the Fixed Gear Revolution 3 main event on Aug 20th.
Sat Aug 6th 4:30pm > Bike Polo @ Worker’s Gymnasium
Anyone with any kind of bike can join. Meet us at Natooke at 4pm to start playing at 4:30pm or meet us directly anytime at the Worker’s Gymnasium East gate. If you’re still haven’t tried bike polo and you’re curious, come along and watch. We’ll also be going out for some dinner afterwards!
Other events this week:
- Sun Aug 7th morning: Last chance to win iPads and cool stuff: Bishengyuan Tea “Alleycat” – Go to the locations around the city that they post on the website, take a picture and collect a stamp from each of the locations. More information at their website.
- Sun Aug 14th: Lord of the Ring Road 2 alleycat organized again by Jake with some funny Inner Mongolian prizes.
- 1st Eurobike Fixed Gear Championships Sept 2nd to 4th: Eurobike is the second largest bike exhibition in the world and this year there will be the first time fixed gear championships around that time with sprints and trick jam. We will have some Natooke people competing. Anybody want to join us?
- Sara fundraising ride “878 Fixed for Swaziland”:
878 km – Sara and Josh will ride together on their fixed gear bikes from Gleina (Germany) to Friedrichshafen (city hosting the first European Fixed Gear Championship). Fixed gear bikes… they only have one gear, are really fast, and are good for cool tricks, like cycling backwards! They are doing this to raise funds to help others in need. “Get Your Kit Off” Night Ride
Thursdays night ride around the Olympic Forest Park was characterized by the number of topless riders whizzing around the forest in the hot night air. Although not riding in the forest, we could smell the forest air yet we still had the wide city roads to cycle on and this with fact that the road was quiet made for a very rewarding ride! Maybe next time we should have a swim suit/bikini ride. Yes! Topless + Bikini!
Bike Polo Revolution
This week’s bike polo sessions were a laugh with new people trying out the sport on both days! We even had four teams which are two games going on at once on Saturday even with the coach and some others just watching not in the game! A group of mountain bikers joined us on Saturday after seeing us playing. With the new bikes that had also come out to play made our polo game a beautiful jumble of bikes of all shapes and sizes! Saint Tom is also getting more serious with the training as Fixed Gear Revolution 3 approaches!

Fixed Gear Revolution 3
Finally, it is August! The Fixed Gear Revolution 3 is so close now! The scratch race on Thursday Aug 18th at 10:30pm will be an exciting underground race, and all the other events on Aug 20th will strike your fancy for a full Saturday. As before, the Fixed Gear Revolution takes you to the heart of fixed gear culture and its values, it represents the pure love of fixed gear bikes. So, if you are not a crazy trick player, and you don’t have a pair of iron legs that always chase after cars, it doesn’t matter at all! As long as you ride a fixed gear bike, you should, no, you must come to this, the biggest event of the year! Come to Beijing! Join the family! Find your companion! After all, besides those competitions, there are still lots of games, all for the fun. Join for a good time on your fixed gear bike！

New Bikes
1st:: Sara’s new bike! Flame treated Flying Banana frame looks awesome! H+Son‘s mirror rims are bling bling! And obviously she loves leopard print！
2nd: Bright orange Flying Banana Lugged frame + bright green rear wheel = 120% captivating
3rd: Clean and bright. The red crank set works well with the red tires.
4th：Remember the saddle looking like two hands? Now this turned into a Flying Banana bike in memory of Ernest Hemmingway!
